The Poet’s Ghazal
Finally, the day came when I believed
that I was here, in part, to live for words.
I have a talent for words, and using
that talent is moving me forward.
I have learned that words are sometimes earned
and sometimes I receive gifts of free words.
But I have also learned that I must not try
too hard, that I kill poems if I force words.
Who knows if I will have the poet’s wreath set
upon my crown, but I know what I live for: words.
