Coyote Night
From the distant hills
a coyote’s howl,
then another,
then the whole pack.
Their harmonies give me
an idea of what people
who believe in gods
believe in.
Charles Rossiter, NEA Fellowship recipient, has been featured at the Dodge Poetry Festival in NJ, and on NPR.
