What’s Under the Words

The entrance
to the world in which we belong
isn’t far from here.
We could find it
without shifting our gaze,
without taking another breath.

We could fall in
without moving,
descend
without walking,
disappear
without mystery.

On the nether throne
we’d find the very light
that falls across this room,

and in the deepest chamber,
the darkest moonlit one,
we’d find
this very story

and the page
we haven’t yet turned.
