Darlene Pagán
Angels at the Well
Heredity
God's Ray
Warm rain falls
through the headlight
of a storm engine
chuffing soot cloud
into soot cloud,
steering the afternoon
into night like
an unwilling child
to bed. On the grass,
my sons spin, arms
out like an offering
the sun accepts,
throwing herself down
heaven’s fluted throat.
