Flight Meditation

Sandhill cranes
are elegant in prayer:
the fall of white wings,
the startle of red caps.
They pray like all monks do.
Pray for a stronger population,
the munificence of God.
Look, the sun. Look, the grass.
Look, the water. Look, the cranes.
Bell moments.
The censors taste like the wild
of broad wings in flight.
