Collision

The mind collides
again
with the heart
            tender
            expansive

the mind blazes its way
with all it thinks it knows

a lanky tractor
edging the lush green
to a buzz cut

While the heart
            run over
            again
waits              
for any opening
            a pause
            one long exhale
            reverse gear

to invite the mind
            to hear
            listen

            then follow

 

Maryann Russo’s works have appeared in numerous publications.
She is a psychotherapist who lives in Southern California.
Maryann published her first book of poetry, Wild and Still, in 2013.
Currently she is compiling her second manuscript, I Wait For the River.
