Feature Poets

On August 27, 2017 we shared the joy of celebrating the fifth anniversary of Soul-Lit. Seventeen volumes later we are deeply grateful to all of you – our readers, poets, and our Soul-Lit community – for your work to build Soul-Lit.  Five years ago, Wayne-Daniel Berard, Rob Schadt and Deborah Leipziger created Soul-Lit  to build a community for spiritual poetry. Thank you for sharing your wonderful  poetry and embarking on this journey with us.

To celebrate our milestone, we gathered at the Sacred Space at Northeastern University in Ell Hall on 360 Huntington Avenue, Boston MA from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. We shared poetry, imagery, music and dance, along with refreshments.

We captured several of the most special parts of the event and we are happy to share them here. Two centos were created and performed to celebrate the event. A cento is a poetical work composed of verses taken from other authors, in this case the feature poets represented in our 17 previous volumes.

The first, written by Deborah (and read in the video by Rob), features images created by Rob Schadt. The second, composed by Wayne-Daniel, was performed in dance by Julie Leavitt with clarinetist Benyamin Lichtenstein. We were wonderfully entertained with original songs by Leah Harmon. This section also includes a retrospective of our 17 featured poets. Access these from the links above. We are joined here with our Co-Editor, Sam Libby. Enjoy!
